This serial has already been activated and cannot be activated again

When attempting to activate the product, the following error message displays:

“This serial has already been activated and cannot be activated again.”


An activation license can only be used for a single installation, and if necessary for one test installation, as stated in the license agreement. If it has already been used by two installations, all future installations attempting to use the same activation or authorization license will generate the above error message.


To resolve this problem, one or more of the existing installations must have the license deactivated so it can be activated on a new machine. To deactivate the license, follow these steps:

1. Log into the Webtrends user interface.

2. Navigate to Administration > Licensing > License Keys.

3. From the drop-down menu, select “Delete.”

After contacting the licensing server, the authorization key will be available for activation on the other installation.

If one of the machines no longer exists, but still shows an activation, contact Webtrends Technical Support at (503) 223-3023 (US) or +44 (0) 1784 463 555 (EMEA) to have it removed.
