The installer starts before the uninstallation has completed

Issue

When upgrading to Webtrends Analytics 8.1a the installer begins before the uninstaller completely finishes removing the old version. The installer checks for a status log for the outcome of the uninstaller and if no status change is seen for twenty minutes the installer will start the 8.1a installation process.

Resolution

Create a registry key to override the default.
