How to configure page file types for use with URL Rebuilding in versions of Webtrends prior to 8.7d

For globally-defined page file types, perform the steps below:

1. Navigate to “Web Analysis > Options > Analysis” and select the “File Types” tab.

2. Select the radio button for “Treat only the extensions listed below as page views” (if not already selected). A list of known extensions displays below.

3. Edit the extension for which the query string must not be truncated.

4. Under the “Query String Truncation:” section, select the radio button for “Show query string in reports,” then click “Done” to save the change.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each applicable extension, the click “Save” to save the changes.

For page file types defined on a per-profile level, perform the steps below:

1. Edit the profile and navigate to “Analysis > Page File Types.”

2. Select the radio button for the “Use page file type definitions listed below” option. To modify global definitions to be specific to the profile, click “Import Global List.” The list of global definitions displays below. To add a new definition, click “New” or “Add File Type” (depending on the version used).

3. Edit the extension for which the query string must not be truncated. Creating a new definition will display the same “File Type Details” screen as displayed when editing an existing extension.

4. If this is a new extension, enter the string defining the extension in the “File Extension” field. For both new and existing extensions, select the “Show query string in reports” radio button, then select “Done” to save the change.

5. Repeat the above steps until all applicable extensions have been configured to not be truncated.

Once the page file types are no longer truncated, a URL Rebuilding definition can be applied and viewed within URL-based reports.
