The Webtrends Application Pool or other IIS components will not start

The Webtrends Application Pool within Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager will not start or will start briefly, then stop. This occurs after updates have been run on the system.


1. Follow the steps outlined in the following Knowledge Base article:

KB Service Unavailable error 500

2. Reinstall any Microsoft .Net framework components displayed as installed under “Add/Remove Programs” or “Programs and Features” in the Control Panel.

Further information:
This process must be repeated every time updates are applied to ASP.Net on servers on which the Webtrends user interface component is installed.
