Issue
Attempting to use a REST URL that exceeds 255 characters results in the message “The text string you entered is too long. Reduce the number of characters or cancel the entry.”
Cause
Excel has a limit of 255 characters for URLs used to import data.
Resolution
Using a URL shortener will produce a URL that can be used to pull the data into Excel from DX/REST.
