Issue

Profiles in a new installation of Webtrends Analytics 8.7d (and higher) show no page view data in their reports, though data exists for visits and visitors. The data sources do not use SmartSource Data Collector log files.

Resolution

With the release of Webtrends Analytics 8.7d, the global page view definition uses the “WT.dl” parameter as its default. This parameter is found in SmartSource Data Collector logs but would not be present in web logs generated in other logging solutions such as IIS or Apache.

There are two ways to resolve this issue. One method is to edit the global settings that affect all profiles currently configured to use the global option, then reanalyze the profile. The other is to modify each profile individually and enable a hit classification other than the default, then reanalyze the affected profiles.

To edit the global settings to use a non-parameter based definition for Page Views and Downloaded Files, follow the steps below:
1. Navigate to “Web Analysis > Options > Analysis > Hit Classification > Page View Definitions.”

2.Under “Define page views using this method:,” select the “File Extensions”radio button.

3. Change the “Hit Classification” option from “Page View Definitions” to “Download Definitions.”

4.Under “Define downloads using this method:,” select the “File Extensions”radio button.

5. Select “Save” to save the changes.

To edit the profile to use a different definition for Page Views and Downloads, follow the steps below:
1. Edit the profile, then navigate to “Analysis > Page View Definitions.”

2. Clear the “Use global page view definition” check box, thenunder “Define page views using this method:,” select the “File Extensions”radio button.

3. Change to “Download Definitions” under the “Analysis” tab.

4. Clear the “Use global download definition,” check box, thenunder “Define downloads using this method:,” select the “File Extensions”radio button.

5. Select “File Extensions”

6. Select “Save” to save the changes.
