Issue

An Webtrends profile backed up to tape or other backup medium is past the default retention limit for analysis backups and when restored, is not shown in the user interface.

Resolution

It is advisable that the entire Webtrends installation directory be backed up to another location prior to following these instructions as an emergency fallback measure.

Make note of the profile’s guid, which can be found by editing the profile to be backed up and looking under the General tab under “Profile File Name.”

1. Within the Administration console, under Backup/Restore, click on Restore Backup.

2. Find the oldest backup in the list and make note of the date and time.

3. Open the following folder:

\Webtrends\storage\backup\Archives\

4. Rename the file, which will follow the naming convention of archive_-<time>.zip

rename to

archive_-<time>.zip.original

5. Copy the file from the third-party backup to the same location, being sure to match the file’s date and numbers to the one that was just renamed.

6. Navigate to the following location:

\Webtrends\storage\backup\Report\

7. Rename the file, which will follow the naming convention of report_-<time>.zip

rename to

report_-<time>.zip.original

8. Copy the file from the third-party backup to the same location, being sure to match the file’s date and numbers to the one that was just renamed.

9. From the Administration console, under Backup/Restore, click on “Restore Backup” for the oldest backup which was just replaced.

10. Analyze one day’s worth of data to reset the databases and to complete the backup.
