Cause
Each Webtrends release is tested with certain operating systems at the time of its release. Microsoft patches developed after a product release may not have gone through the QA cycle and their impact on a Webtrends installation are uncertain.
Resolution
Prior to applying any new patches we recommend performing a backup of the Webtrends environment. This ensures recovery if patches have unintended consequences.

New patches should be thoroughly tested in a development environment before implementing them in a production environment.
