How does authenticated username session tracking stitch hits together

Cause

Authenticated username session tracking is special. It does not use any of the usual “fallback” methods that you are used to with the “First Party” or “Smartsource” session tracking methods. It only understands two things: Authenticated username and ip/user agent.

When an authenticated username is not present, the engine uses ip/user-agent until it finds a name. Then it stiches all the hits with the user to the hits without a user by the common ip/user-agent string.
