Cause
In January 2014, Bing enabled secure searching from https://www.bing.com. Searches coming from the secure site will remove all referrer information. This change will cause the traffic from this secure site to display as Direct Traffic and it will not be included in any Search Engines, Search Phrases, or Search Keyword reports.

At this time, there is not a way to use this secure search by default. It can only be accessed by going directly to the https://www.bing.com URL.
