Cause
You want to uninstall and then reinstall Smartsource Data Collector (SDC) while keeping the same settings.
Resolution
Before doing anything, note that while performing the steps in this document, your SDC will not be logging data.
1. Download the most recent version of the SDC installer from the following URL:
http://www.webtrends.com/support/softwarecenter.aspx
2. Stop the SDC. You can do this by stopping the “World Wide Web Publishing Service.” in the services control panel.
3. Move any files from the ..\SmartSource Data Collector\weblog\ folder into your permenant log file repository. These are the last logs your SDC just produced.
4. Backup the ..\SmartSource Data Collector\cfg folder. This should contain your current dcs.cfg and webtrendssites.lst file.
5. Restart the”World Wide Web Publishing Service.”
6. Uninstall the SDC.
7. Delete any remaining SDC directories.
8. Run the new SDC installer.
9.Stop the SDC. You can do this by stopping the “World Wide Web Publishing Service.” in the Services snap-in.
10. Replace the files in the\SmartSource Data Collector\cfg folder with the ones backed up in step 4.
11.Restart the”World Wide Web Publishing Service.”
The new SDC installation will now be running with the old configuration.
