Cause
Referrer reports display site traffic that was not referred to from another site with the value “Direct Traffic” but searches and queries using the literal value “direct traffic” do not display direct traffic.
Resolution
Use the value “%%CommonNoReferrer%%” (without quotes) to display only Direct Traffic. This is a tokenized value which translates to “Direct Traffic” when report data is displayed.
