Summary
You have a service that is stuck in the stopping status and you want to force the service to stop
Resolution
This is not the preferred method of stopping a service. Whenever possible you should stop services from the services snap-in.
From the services snap-in, right click on the service then select properties and find the process name under Path to executable. Open Task Manager and find the process for that service. Select the process and click End Process.
