How do tables work in Webtrends Analytics?

Resolution

A profile’s table information is stored in its “dbinfo” file, a csv-formatted (comma-separated value) file showing what the current counts and limits are for the analysis and report databases.

A profile’s dbinfo file is found in the following location:

\Webtrends\storage\analysis\wtm_wtx\datfiles\databases\\.zip

Extract _dbinfo.csv from the .zip file and edit it with a text editor. Summary information displays, including reporting periods, miscellaneous information about the profile’s configuration and session information. The most substantial content is the Database Table Info, with the following column headers and their respective values below:

Table Name – Contains the name of the table. Two types of reports are listed in this report:

  • Standard – If the table name does not contain an ID number next to it then it is a standard report and any changes will need to be made either at the global or the profile level.
  • Custom – If this field contains an ID number then it is a custom report.

Table Number – A unique number for the table. This may be referenced in the status logs.

Smart Limited – Indicates whether or not the report uses Smart Limiting.

Current Memory Usage – The amount of memory used for the most recent analysis.

Current Memory Usage w/o Intervals – The amount of memory used for the most recent analysis excluding interval data.

Potential Memory Usage – The amount of memory that would be used if all tables were full.

End of Visit Table – How visits are calculated. Visits are calculated at either the beginning or end of the visit.

1D Table Count – The current number of elements in the analysis database. If this number reaches the 1D Table Analysis Limit, new entries will no longer be added to the database. Elements that are already in the database will continue to be incremented. New elements will be stored in an “Other” category. Although the granularity of newer entries will be lost, the metric totals at the bottom will always be correct.

1D Table Analysis Limit – The maximum number of 1D elements that can be stored in the analysis database.

1D Daily Report Count – The number of 1D elements stored in the report database for daily activity.

1D Weekly Report Count – The number of 1D elements stored in the report database for weekly activity.

1D Monthly Report Count – The number of 1D elements stored in the report database for monthly activity.

1D Qtrly Report Count – The number of 1D elements stored in the report database for quarterly activity.

1D Yearly Report Count – The number of 1D elements stored in the report database for yearly activity.

1D Max Report Count – The total number of 1D elements stored in the report database.

1D Report Limit – The maximum number of 1D elements that can be stored in the report database.

1D Total String Length – The collective total number of characters comprising the string in the log file field(s) on which the report is based.

1D Average String Length – The average number of characters per string in the log file field(s) on which the report is based.

2D Type – The type of table, i.e., “Sub Table” (null values indicate it is not a sub-table).

2D Count – The number of 2D elements stored in the report database.

2D Analysis Limit – The maximum number of 2D elements that can be stored under any one 1D element. For example: United States (1D element) could be an element in a report. The sub-elements would be the states. If this 2D table limit was set to 40, then this report could not store all states.

2D Global Analysis Limit – The maximum number of 2D elements elements that can be stored in the report database. Even if none of the sub-elements have reached their individual 2D table limit, the total of all sub-elements may reach the 2D table global limit.

2D Max Element Count – This is the 2D count of the 1D element with the most sub-elements. Unique values will no longer be captured if the value has reached the 2D table limit.

2D Daily Max Report Count – The number of 2D elements stored in the report database for daily activity.

2D Weekly Max Report Count – The number of 2D elements stored in the report database for weekly activity.

2D Monthly Max Report Count – The number of 2D elements stored in the report database for monthly activity.

2D Qtrly Max Report Count – The number of 2D elements stored in the report database for quarterly activity.

2D Yearly Max Report Count – The number of 2D elements stored in the report database for yearly activity.

2D Max Report Count – The total number of 2D elements stored in the report database.

2D Report Limit – The maximum number of 2D elements that can be stored in the report database.

2D Table Total String Length – The collective total number of characters comprising the string in the field(s) on which the report is based.

2D Table Average String Length – The average number of characters per string of the field(s) on which the report is based.
