Issue
Are single-page visits included in Duration or Viewed measures?
Resolution
Duration or Time Viewed is determined by looking at the time stamp of the hits by the same user in the log file. If a user opens the Home page and then browses to another page, we can see the time stamp for the first and second hits as tracked “per user” based on the session tracking method chosen for the profile. We then subtract the prior hit from the latter to arrive at the time that was spent on this page. This value is then used to calculate the Average or Median depending on the report measure.
If the user does not have a second hit in the log file, it is impossible for Webtrends to determine how long the user spent on the page prior to leaving or closing the browser. As a result, single-page visits will not be counted in any of these types of measures. Likewise, visits expire 30 minutes after the last made by the same user as determined by the session tracking. If a visit expires, the last page conceivably could have been viewed anywhere between less than one second and more than 30 minutes. As a result, the last hit in a visit is not counted in these measures even if they have more than one page view.
