Issue

Upon logging into Webtrends, the following message displays:

“The license does not belong to this machine.”

Resolution

This can result from the server name, IP address, or MAC address of the network card changing, often from virtualizing or moving an installation. To correct this, deactivate and reactivate the server.

  1. Open a remote session to the server on which Webtrends is installed. Log in as the Webtrends service account.
  2. Open a command prompt and navigate to Webtrends\common\lib.
  3. Type “wtlicman -d” and press Enter to deactivate the current license.
  4. Type “wtlicman -a -k ” replacing with your license key, including dashes, and press Enter to activate the license.
  5. Make sure to close and reopen the Webtrends interface. It may also be necessary to restart the services/server if closing and reopening the interface did not resolve the issue.
