Issue

Analysis fails and the following error message displays in the status messages:

Task execution failed – could not open log file

All required permissions have been granted and other reasons for access restrictions do not appear to be the cause. The affected profile has many data sources and/or many log file paths.

Resolution

Increase the number of File Handles Windows uses. This setting is configured in the \windows\system32\config.nt file in 32-bit versions of Windows.

Increase the number in the “files” setting until analysis completes. A restart is required after changes are made.

The maximum setting is 255. Increase incrementally until analysis is successful.
