Situation:
You would like to have a profile level hit filter that includes or excludes traffic coming from mobile devices.
Solution:
Create a two hit filters based on Browser. Leave the drop-down as “All Browsers” and input the following string:

PLAYBOOK SILK KINDLE KFJWA KFJWI KFTT KFOT TOUCHPAD PHONE XBLWP7 “SERIES 60” PANTECH BLACKBERRY BADA BREW
Hit next and save the filter.
Add both filters to the profile to either include or exclude data based on mobile devices.
More Information
Although this filter will include all log file entries with the above-mentioned strings in the Browser position of the cs-User Agent field, whether or not data for some mobile devices is present in reports is dependent on whether the identity of the devices can be translated from the browsers.ini file. Browsers.ini is updated approximately every quarter and provides translated values for specific clients (i.e., platforms, devices, browsers, spiders, etc.) based on the full cs-User Agent field. A recently released device will not translate, but the above filter enables visitor data to populate applicable reports regardless of whether it is a known device.
To confirm if a device is known, view the profile and examine the Mobile Devices report under Site Design > Browsers and Systems > Wireless > WAP. If a certain device does not display, it is possible to obtain metrics for the device using a custom report with a primary dimension of “Browser” and a secondary dimension of “Agent”, to which a filter with a string similar to the one above is added. It should be mentioned that while this method is guaranteed to exhaustively capture all cs-User Agent data specified by the filter, the user agents may not appear as sub-sets of the primary dimension when the report is viewed. An example of this would be the Samsung Galaxy tablet, which appears under “Google Android Browser” rather than “Samsung” (untranslated and based on browser-agent), compared to the translated value of “Samsung Galaxy Tab” in the Mobile Devices report.
