Known Issues
Microsoft Windows 2003 Support
This release does not support the UI Server component (Webtrends - Apache and Webtrends - Tomcat services) on Microsoft Windows 2003. The UI Server runs only on Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Because you cannot install the UI Server component on a separate computer in the Small Business and Professional editions, only the Enterprise edition supports Microsoft Windows 2003. GeoTrends and SmartSource Data Collector (SDC) support Microsoft Windows 2003.
MySQL
If you choose MySQL for your System Database, you should use the MySQL version included with the Webtrends 7.0 installation. Existing MySQL servers are not supported.
IIS services on Microsoft Windows 2000
Two IIS services installed by default with Microsoft Windows 2000, the Indexing service and the FTP service, can interfere with Webtrends analysis. If one of these services accesses a folder while Webtrends is trying to establish a lock on it, analysis can slow dramatically. Webtrends recommends disabling these services on the computer where Webtrends is installed. If you cannot disable these services, you should configure them so they do not access any folders in the Webtrends installation directory structure. For example, do not point your FTP service to the root directory of the drive where Webtrends is installed.
Cross-Domain Distributed Installations Not Supported
The Webtrends Distributed Architecture feature does not support installations across domains. All computers in the installation must be in the same domain.
Viewing Reports in Multiple Browser Windows
Because of issues with Sun's Java Runtime Environment, you should only view reports in a single browser window. Opening multiple windows may cause Internet Explorer to hang.
Virus Scanner Can Affect Profile Analysis
Using a virus scanner with script blocking enabled can cause a scheduled event to fail, or to start without being added to the event queue.
Pop-Up Blockers Block Help
Using a pop-up blocker application may block the pop-up window that online help uses. If you cannot open the online help, you should check for a method to specify trusted sites within the blocker program and add the URL of the Webtrends installation (for example http://webtrends:7099) to the list of sites that should not be blocked.
On-Demand vs. Standard Reports Settings
Previous versions of Webtrends supported two types of reports, on-demand and standard (formerly referred to as 'Pre-Generated'). In 7.0, all profiles are assumed to be on-demand report profiles. To view standard reports, you must use your previous version of Webtrends.
Web Server Port Definition
If the web server port is set to a value other than the default port, 7099, the port definition for the web server may be lost in some network configurations. When this occurs, clicking the Administration or Scheduler links in the Webtrends user interface results in a "Server Not Found Message" after a long timeout. In these cases, you should specify the correct port using the wt_remote.ini configuration file in the installation root. Use the following parameters:
[RemoteConfiguration] PortOverride = 443
SQL Server and JDBC
If you are using Microsoft SQL Server, Webtrends requires Service Pack 2 of the Microsoft SQL Server JDBC driver. If you use a different service pack level, JDBC can show errors that do not match the submitted query. You can download Service Pack 2 from the Microsoft web site at:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=a737000d-68d0-4531-b65d-da0f2a735707&displaylang=en
Concurrent Tasks Setting Is Not Migrated
When you migrate to Webtrends 7.0 from 6.x, the Concurrent Tasks for Agent setting reverts to 1. If you specified a value greater than 1 for this setting in 6.x, change the value manually after you finish installing 7.0. To change the Concurrent Tasks for Agent setting, select Administration > System Management > Hosts on the left pane and click Edit Host Settings.
Archive Migration
When you migrate to Webtrends 7.0 from 6.x, settings for archiving data are migrated from 6.x. However, the actual archived data is not migrated to Webtrends 7.0. Any archives detected during migration remain intact and can be restored manually. Contact Webtrends Technical Support for more information.
Java Plug-in Security Warning
The first time you view a report after an installation, the Java run-time system recognizes the Webtrends Java applets as new and attempts to verify that they have valid security certificates. In rare cases, this check may fail, resulting in the following error: "Unable to verify the certificate code will be treated as unsigned." This error occurs when the browser fails to access a certificate database maintained by VeriSign. The failure may be due to browser configuration issues. In this case, the error is reproducible and potential fixes include reconfiguring or reinstalling the browser. More likely, the failure is due to a rare and temporary connectivity problem.

Sample Profiles
You can download sample profiles for Webtrends 7.0 from the following URL:
http://product.webtrends.com/WRC/7.0/Accessories/samples.aspx?prodtype=rcent &version=7.0&os=win32
The samples include the following profiles:
1. The 'Zedesco Sample' is a new sample profile used to highlight the features of 7.0. Zedesco International is a fictional web site that Webtrends uses to demonstration functionality. Report databases for this profile are included in the installation. However, because there are no log files associated with the profile, you cannot run a new analysis against the data.
2. The 'Zedesco SDC Sample is a subset of the 'Zedesco Sample' profile that includes the associated SmartSource Data Collector files. This profile allows you to experiment with Webtrends settings and report analysis before administering your own profiles.
3. The 'Streaming Media Sample' contains profile settings, report data, and associated log files for RealPlayer Streaming Media.
Out-of-Date Components
If you receive a message during installation indicating that Windows system components are out-of-date, you can obtain the latest Visual C++ 6 redistributable from the Microsoft knowledge base. Search for article #259403 or go to:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q259403
Using Product Licensing with Proxy Servers
If you are using a proxy server, you may need to specify the proxy server address and port to activate the product. To specify proxy server settings, add the information to the plservice.ini file in the Webtrends installation directory.
Visual Basic is the Preferred Scripting Language
Visual Basic replaces Webtrends Script as the preferred language for scripting. Webtrends recommends writing all new scripts in Visual Basic. Although Webtrends Script continues to function in Webtrends 7.0, future development will focus on Visual Basic, and Webtrends Script will be removed from the product in a later version. You can reimplement many existing scripts using the new URL Rebuilding feature. URL Rebuilding lets you include and exclude specified parameters in all URLs, or only particular URLs. URL Rebuilding is more efficient and easier to configure and maintain than hand-written scripts. For more information on these techniques, see "Webtrends Conduit API" and "ActiveX Conduit Programmer's Reference" in the Webtrends Technical Reference Guide.
