Introduction:
URL Parameter Analysis is a feature that can only be performed on the client-requested URL, not the referring URL of a log file. Provided below is an example entry from a Microsoft IIS 5.0 log file:
2002-03-03 02:54:20 1.1.1.1 - W3SVC3 192.168.1.1 GET /default.asp id=1 200 0 707 141 7 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+4.01;+Windows+95) - http://shopping.yahoo.com/shop.asp?id=phone
In the example, the client-requested URL is /default.asp. The referrer, http://shopping.yahoo.com/shop.asp?id=phone, is not something that will appear in Parameter Analysis reports.
For Webtrends Reporting Center users:
It is possible to report the information in the referring URL field via a custom report. To accomplish this create a new custom report, defining a new custom dimension based on the referring URL. Using a custom report filter, define either a regular expression or string match to filter on the parameter value in the referring URL field. More information about how to configure custom reports is provided in KB 051443.
Note: The Custom Reports feature is not available in Webtrends Log Analyzer or Webtrends Log Analyzer Advanced. |
