The following error message displays during analysis of a profile:
WARNING: WTRS returned with an error code:-2147483641
Cause
This error occurs when a profile uses too much memory. Confirm this by reviewing the profile's status log. To do so, edit the profile and under "Analysis > General" the Profile File Name value will displays the profile's guid. Make note of this, then navigate to the following location on the server:
\Webtrends\storage\analysis\wtm_wtx\datfiles\statuslogs (versions 8.7d and later)
Open the file matching the guid of the failing profile. Search for the last entry containing the string "Max memory usage" to find out how much memory the profile was using at the time of failure.
An example of reasonable memory utilization may look as follows:
This can be corrected by making profile-level and/or environmental changes.
On a profile level:
Lower the analysis throttling by half, attempt to analyze, then repeat as necessary until analysis completes successfully.
Decrease the amount of custom reports used by the profile. This also includes Path Analysis reports.
Break the profile up into multiple, smaller profiles. This may prove particularly effective for profiles which feature specific reports that appear to be the catalyst for failure.
On an environmental level:
Increase the memory.
If applicable, upgrade the operating system from a 32-bit version to a 64-bit version.
If applicable, implement the /3G switch in the boot.ini (32-bit operating systems only).
32-bit operating systems, by default, can only utiliize up to two gigabytes of memory per process. To increase this, add the /3G switch to the boot ini.
With the release of Webtrends Analytics 8.7d, the application is no longer restricted by the 32-bit memory limitation when installed on 64-bit operating systems, therefore this error message is expected to be seen most frequently in Webtrends Analytics 8.0x - 8.5x.
Note: The error code as stated, is most commonly a result of not enough memory to complete an analysis. However, occasionally it can be something else. If you run into a situation where limited memory available is not the issue, contact Webtrends Technical Support.
