Introduction: This glossary supplements the Webtrends online glossary. Not all of the terms listed in this article are specific to Campaign Analysis, but all can be found in the product.
Authenticated user - A user whose identity is known through the verification of a username and/or password.
Click Stream - The path that a user took within a particular Web site, indicating navigational patterns of popular pages.
Dynamic page - Within the scope of Campaign Analysis, dynamic pages refer to those that have parameters in the URL, i.e., /products/furniture.asp?product=couch. (The parameters here have been highlighted in green to differentiate them from the rest of the URL). Dynamic pages are often used for things like product pages that are dynamically generated from a database based on values (i.e., couch) that a visitor has selected.
Entry page - An entry page is the first page that visitors access when they come to your Web site. The item could be an image, a document, or a file. For example, you might have an ad banner on Yahoo! that links users to the page /ads/yahoo_ad.htm on your Web site. (This page might simply redirect users to your home page.) This page would track the number of users clicking through from that banner. ยท
FastTrends database - FastTrends makes it possible to store the results of the Web Traffic Analysis in a database to significantly speed future reports based on the same log files.
Marketing campaign - A marketing campaign, refers to any of the following: An ad banner graphic that links to your Web site. A group of pages hosted on another site that advertises your product/content and links to your Web site. A "partner page" link to your Web site. Any other type of link that goes to your Web site; for example, "Site of the week."
Non-qualified visitor - A non-qualified visitor does not access any pages on your web site that you specified in your product profile.
Profile - Profiles define the location of the log file as well as how the log file data is processed (such as DNS lookups, filtering, use of FastTrends databases). These differ from report settings that define the style and language, as well as any graphs and tables to include.
Qualification level - In the context of a product profile, qualification levels assign a group of users a value based on the pages they access. The more valuable the pages are in relationship to the product, the more valuable the users that visit them and the higher the qualification level. There are three qualification levels: minimal, moderate, and full.
Qualified visitors - A qualified visitor is one that accesses specific pages on your Web site that you specified in of your setup; specifically, in a product profile qualification level.
Real-time analysis - A feature that, when activated, continuously collects data in the background to speed up creation of reports for large log files. Real-time analysis can be enabled in the database, Real-time profile tab.
Redirect - A redirect is a page that, once someone accesses it with a Web browser, literally redirects that person to a final destination page. Most of the time, a redirect happens so quickly that the visitor does not even know. it took place. A redirect is often used to track visitors coming from specific marketing campaigns.
Referrer - The referrer page is the page a visitor accessed just before entering your Web site. This is typically a page containing an ad banner or link to your site.
Regular expressions - Regular expressions use a generalized pattern language that can be used to match patterns in your parameter value or qualifying URL. See the Help index built into the product for information about regular expression syntax, building regular expressions, matching order rules and comparing regular expressions with wildcards.
Report range - Defines the portion of the log that you want to report on. You can specify the range in the Range tab of the Create Report window.
