Issue

After a failed attempt at installing Service Pack 2 for Webtrends v8.7d, attempting to run the installer again results in the message“This host does not require this patch” and the installer then quits

Resolution

IMPORTANT: This article contains information about modifying the registry. Before you modify the registry, make sure to back it up and make sure that you understand how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. There is a registry key that the installer looks for to determine if the service pack is already installed. This key is:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\A44B0DF40C5979D468B3B6178EF72671

Make a backup of this key (right-click the key, select “Export”, then provide a path and file name) or a backup of the entire “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products” key and then delete this specific key. Run the installer again and it will install properly.
