Issue
Commands run from the command line fail and the following message displays:
The requested operation requires elevation.
The user running the command has administrative rights on the server, yet this message implies they do not.
This results from Windows’ User Account Control (UAC) on Windows Server 2008 which restricts processes from running as an administrator, regardless of the user’s rights.
Resolution
Right-click on the Command Prompt icon under “Start > All Programs > Accessories” and select “Run as administrator” from the context menu that displays. A command line window will open wherein processes executed will be run with administrative rights.
