A live virus scanner detects when a new file is saved to the system, or a file is changed/rewritten. When it detects this activity, it immediately attempts to scan the file before a virus has the chance to do any damage. Often times, the virus scanner needs to put a read/write lock on the file during the scanning process. As Webtrends does a large number of reads and writes during the analysis process, a live virus scanner attempting to scan the files being worked with can easily cause a read or write failure. This will result in incorrect data within the file, and consequently corrupt the integrity of the database. This same activity can affect the MySQL tables as they are changed, or any other configuration file that is modified by Webtrends. Under normal circumstances Webtrends recommends excluding the entire Webtrends directories from being scanned as it will prevent Anti-virus software from causing corruption. We realize that in high security environments this is not always practical.

To prevent corruption and still meet the need to have the Webtrends directory actively scanned refer to Knowledge Base article KB 062236 for a list of file types Webtrends recommends to be excluded from active scanning inside the Webtrends folders.

Disable windows indexing service
Turn off the Indexing Service and disable.
Also, verify the following information as well.
Note: Verify Front Page Extensions are not installed or running on the machine. This function works for typical "href" type links and properly formatted Anchor links. However, this does not work automatically with some types of links including Silverlight, Flash, AJAX, or JavaScript. To handle these two situations, two functions can be used.

With links that automatically fire a hit using the built in link tracking, the "dcsSetVar" function should be used. This function does not call the Webtrends JavaScript to run again on the page, but instead only changes or adds parameters to the hit already being sent from the automatic link tracking. In this way, the title for a link could be changed to a more friendly name, or perhaps an "End Action" parameter could be passed on the link. The syntax for dcsSetVar is as follows with a parameter/value pair, with each parameter and value within single quotes and each separated by commas. Special characters such as spaces will need to be URL Encoded.

dcsSetVar('Parameter1','Value','Parameter2','Value');

For example, to pass a title of "New Title" for an href link the function might look like:

onclick="dcsSetVar('WT.ti','New%20Title');"

With links that do not automatically fire a hit as listed above, the "dcsMultiTrack" function should be used. This function calls the Webtrends JavaScript on the page to run again prior to the new page or document being loaded by the browser. Due to the script simply running on the page an additional time, the same parameters and values that were passed on the original page load will be passed again. This means that the URL of the source page may be passed as the destination URL instead of the intended destination URL. In order address this, the override parameters should be coded manually to ensure the destination URL is passed properly. At a minimum, the following parameters should be passed when using dcsMultiTrack:

DCS.dcssip= Domain of destination page
DCS.dcsuri= URI stem of destination page
WT.ti= Title of link clicked
WT.dl= Value appropriate for hit such as WT.dl=1 for links, WT.dl=7 for Silverlight links.

Additional parameters such as the End Action parameters may be added to the code. The syntax for the dcsMultiTrack function is identical to the dcsSetVar function described above. As an example, in order to pass a destination URL of "http://www.domain.com/folder1/page1.aspx?page=1" with a title of "Destination Page" and the WT.dl=1 for a link click, we might use the script below.
